Feb 2019 Cover: Drawn To The Light

The new cover photo featured on the home page for  Dancing In The Current  was taken by my husband Nigel at St Clair Beach in Dunedin. The almost century-old piles stagger up the sand, remnants of a groyne constructed in 1921. Behind them the esplanade lights are reflected in the wet sand. He took the photo at dusk as the previously fiery sunset faded into cool blue.

Also featured are TWO POEMS:

The first poem Survivors is my response to the photo.

The second poem The Weight Upon The Waves is by Damien B. Donnelly, an invited response that’s wonderfully perceptive (see the notes after the poem).

  1. I really like the composition of this one. the gap in the piles invites your eye to travel through and towards the line of the coast – and then through the reflecting lights. 🙂
